Jody Norman and I have been friends for more than 45 years.

It all started way back at Fort Worth’s McLean Middle School when he ran for Leadership Committee and I served as his campaign manager – and yes, he was elected. He always brags about me doing that for him, but the truth was I couldn’t have had a better candidate.

Between football, our circle of mutual lifelong buddies, our shared love of broadcasting, and our annual Friday trips to the Colonial Golf Tournament practically every year since 1973, we’ve done just about everything two friends can do except for two things: play golf together (a sport at which he’s really good and I’m flatly horrible) and some kind of radio show. The latter is kind of funny, since we started talking about creating something like this back in the 80s.

Better late than never.

The subject? Something else we both love, and have done for more than 70 years combined: coaching youth sports. Although our focus here will primarily be athletics, the conversation is really about something much larger. Building and inspiring children and young people to dream of what can be – and giving them the tools to achieve those dreams.

And, since it’s what everyone who sees us at the Colonial calls us anyway, we’re calling it The Two Jodys.

Enjoy.
